At HIGH BAR, we are excited to share the journey of our owner and president, Lucas Margulis, as he dives into the process of making water-soluble cannabis powder using cannabis he has personally cultivated. In this blog, we will guide you through the steps to create this unique product in the comfort of your own home. Not only is this an enjoyable and rewarding experience, but it also offers a fantastic way to elevate your beverages.
What You'll Need
Required Equipment:
Mixing bowl
Whisk
Spoon
Digital scale
Measuring spoon (teaspoon)
Sifter
10ml Liquid needle syringe
Ingredients:
30 to 60 ml of cannabis MCT oil
250 g of tapioca flour
1 teaspoon of powdered sunflower lecithin
Instructions (approximately 30 servings)
1. Combine the Dry Ingredients: Start by placing the tapioca flour and sunflower lecithin into the mixing bowl.
2. Add the Oil: Using a 10 ml syringe, slowly add the cannabis oil to the dry ingredients while continuously whisking the mixture to ensure a uniform blend.
3. Sift for Smoothness: Once the ingredients are well combined, pass the mixture through a fine sifter for a smoother texture.
4. Storage: Store the final product in a cool, dark place to maintain its quality and potency.
One of the best parts of this method is that it has no added flavour, allowing your beverages to taste just as they should! You’ll experience effects within 15-20 minutes compared to traditional edibles, which can take much longer to kick in. For a more potent experience, simply increase the strength of your cannabis oil beforehand.
Making MCT Cannabis Oil: Infusing Homegrown Goodness
In a separate video tutorial, HIGH BAR proudly presents instructions on how to make MCT cannabis oil, crafted by our owner and president, Lucas Margulis. In this demonstration, Lucas blends 14g of Northern Lights, 10g of Biscotti, and 6g of Lemon Cherry Gelato, totaling 30g for a potent infusion.
He estimates that the oil will contain approximately 93mg of THC per tablespoon, based on an assumed THC percentage of around 10%, which can vary depending on the bud’s potency. At HIGH BAR, we emphasize the importance of starting low and going slow when testing your products to ensure a pleasurable and safe experience for all users.
Ingredients for Cannabis Oil:
30g dried, and cured flower
2 cups of MCT oil
Tools Required:
Oven
Grinder
Large pan
Parchment paper
Sous vide
Large pot
Ziplock Bag
Measuring cup
Cheesecloth
Strainer
Step-by-Step Directions
1. Decarb the Flower: Preheat your oven to 230°F (110°C) and decarb your cannabis flower for 30-40 minutes to activate the THC.
2. Prep for Infusion: While the flower is decarbing, fill a large pot with water and set your sous vide to 185°F (85°C).
3. Bag It Up: Once the cannabis is ready, place it in a ziplock bag with the MCT oil. Remove the air by leaving a small opening and submerging the bag in water until the air is pushed out, then seal it tight.
4. Sous Vide Time: Submerge the bag in the sous vide pot, placing a measuring cup on top to keep it weighted down. Cook for 6 hours.
5. Cool and Strain: Allow the bag to cool before straining out the flower using cheesecloth and a strainer to achieve pure cannabis oil.
6. Storage: Jar your cannabis oil and store it in a cool, dark place to maintain its quality.
